Robbie Pearl Fisher

Robbie Pearl (Robinson) Fisher was born July 5, 1943; the daughter of late Robert & Mattie (Hodge) Robinson in Ackerman, Mississippi. She grew up there for a short time before the family traveled to Oklahoma, Cedar Falls and finally coming to rest in Waterloo. In her early years, Robbie attended Longfellow, Grant and McKinstry Schools. She graduated from East High School and later studied at the University of Dubuque.

After college, Robbie worked for Arnolds Clothing Store for five years. During this time, is when she met the love of her life, Lesley B. Fisher. She then moved on to Allen Memorial Hospital where she became Ward Secretary for an additional three years. On May 21, 1966, Robbie and Lesley were married and began their life’s journey together.

In 1968, after the birth of their first son, Quentin, Robbie left the workforce to take on a new love of becoming a homemaker and raising a family. Over the next eight years, along came sons, Chad and Trevor, and together took on the title of “Her Three Boys”.

Anyone who knows Robbie, knew her boys were everything to her. She would pride herself as a provider and bargain shopper. No matter if it were food or clothing, she would always find a deal!

She enjoyed her family life as a loving wife and mother and made sure everyone had what they needed, “Not so much as what they wanted.” She would always educate us on needs and wants because as she would say “Money can be very funny at times.”

Equally important to Robbie was family and friends. She loved and cared for everyone. She always made her presence at events. She loved to cook and help where it was needed. Sometimes setting aside her own issues.

As her life continued, her boys, blessed her in becoming “Granny Robbie.” Quentin Jr., Jhala, Trevell, and Sharmez who she loved unconditionally. She showered them with gifts both large and small and passed on the wisdom and courage they needed to help accomplish any goals in life.

Robbie’s mind was strong and her heart was enormous but time…. time battered her body. She fought her aches, her pains, and her illnesses to stay in our lives but time is only borrowed. So, on October 29th 2021, Robbie’s time came to an end. She peacefully passed away surrounded by the family she loved. Leaving memories for us to cherish. A legacy that Robbie and Lesley created for us to carry on throughout our lives.

Robbie is survived by her husband, two sons, Chad (Rhonda) of Olathe, KS and Trevor (Tamika) of Waterloo, IA and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Quentin Fisher, Sr.
