JoAnn Marie Parker

JoAnn Marie Parker was born April 14, 1930 in Tripoli, Iowa: the daughter of Paul and Helen (Garland) Klenzman. She married LaVern Raymond Parker February 25, 1956; they later divorced. JoAnn worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Wisconsin after high school. She returned to Waterloo and worked at Black’s Coffee Shop. JoAnn then worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Ravenwood for 30 years. After her retirement, she returned to Ravenwood as a resident assistant for another couple of years. JoAnn was very faithful and attended First Lutheran Church, until their closing, where she was part of a Women’s Circle. She enjoyed reading mysteries, taking trips, flowers, the color purple and family picnics. Most of all, JoAnn loved her kids and grandkids.

JoAnn passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at UnityPointHealth – Allen Memorial at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Johnson, a sister, Verla Weekley; a son-in-law, Gary Blackburn and her ex-husband, LaVern Raymond Parker.

JoAnn is survived by her children: LeeAnn Blackburn of Waterloo, Lorraine Parker of Cedar Falls, Laberta Parker of Marshalltown, Laura (Michael) Springer of Charles City, LaVern  (Deb) Parker of Waterloo, Lowell “Pete” (Jack Newby) Parker of California, Leisa Campbell of Cedar Falls, Lana (Tom) Petersen of Hudson, Leota (Robert) Schmitz of Janesville and Lee (Arlida) Parker of Iowa City; their half-brother, Mike (Katie) Parker of Adel; 26 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a brother, Gary (Karen) Klenzman of Tripoli.

Visitation: Friday, August 26, 2022, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

Services: Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Hope City Church, formerly First Lutheran Church, 118 High St, at 10:30 am

Burial at Grove Hill Cemetery in Readlyn on Saturday, August 28, 2022 at 1:30 pm.
