Janet Lee Lantz

Janet Lee Lantz, 54, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 as a result of natural causes. She was born September 20, 1967 in Waterloo, the daughter of Gerald and Marlys (Lavenz) Smith. She married Glen Lantz on June 19, 1993 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Janet graduated from Columbus High School in 1988 and pursued her college education at Hawkeye Community College earning her Associate of Science in Nursing. Following graduation, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Harmony House Health Care Center in Waterloo. Supporting her husband Glen’s pursuit of his doctorate degree, they moved to Marion, Illinois, where she worked in a children’s care facility. She was a dedicated nurse until the arrival of their daughter, Haley, in which she became a stay at home mom.

Janet loved spending time with her beloved Glen and daughter Haley. They often took small family trips exploring the outdoors. Together they loved learning and experiencing their daughters’ Indian culture through local events and dining. Janet loved spending time outside. She enjoyed planting flowers and adding to her flower garden. Janet was a holiday enthusiast, with Christmas being her favorite holiday. She loved to decorate for various holidays and plan meals with her sisters. Spending time with family was very important to Janet, there was no place she’d rather be. Janet had unconditional love and positivity to those that surrounded her.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Haley Sarita Lantz (Cedar Falls, IA) and Chananchida Malian (Thailand); a son, Nisarg Shah (India). granddaughter Amber (Cedar Falls, IA); grandsons Arian and Adrian (Cedar Falls, IA); brothers, Joe Smith (Waterloo, IA) and David (Kristine) Smith (Colorado Springs, CO); sisters, Debbie (Scott) Sigman (Kansas City, MO), Lori (Craig) Larsen (Cedar Falls, IA), Stacy (Matt) Reichert (Hudson, IA), Sara (Ben) Blake (Waterloo, IA). sister-in-law, Susan Lantz (Waterloo, IA), brother-in-law, Terry Lantz (Waterloo, IA), and many loved nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Lantz; father, Gerald Smith; mother, Marlys (Lavenz) Smith; sisters, Lisa and Renee Smith and brother Steven Smith.

Janet will be greatly missed and will be forever in our hearts until we meet again.
