Coleen Marie “Frazee” Lucey was born on September 30, 1941 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo to Emmett and Dorothy (Briden) Frazee. She attended East High, leaving the Waterloo area in 1959 for South Carolina. Coleen later received her GED. In 1968, Coleen and J.J. Lucey were married in South Carolina. The couple moved to California for a short time but eventually ended up back in South Carolina. Coleen worked as the Secretary to the District Fire Chief of the Burton South Carolina Fire District. She enjoyed her job immensely and was a cherished member of the district. Coleen was also a special volunteer: when there was a fire, she was on call to bring in necessary supplies, such as water, to the fire fighters. Coleen enjoyed landscaping and yardwork, having one of the most beautiful gardens. She was also extremely creative and enjoyed a variety of crafts including macramé and painting. Coleen had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her dogs, and she enjoyed nothing more than spending cherished time with her grandchildren.

Coleen Marie “Frazee” Lucey died on September 27, 2018 at her daughter’s home at the age of 76. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.J.; and one sister-in-law: Sharon Frazee. Left to cherish Coleen’s memory are her two daughters: Candice Lanning of Cedar Falls and Melissa Charleston of Beaufort, South Carolina; a brother: Gaylen Frazee of Waterloo; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry: P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, South Carolina, 29910.
