Clementine Mafuta

Clementine Suana Mafuta was born on January 9, 1940, in Kwenge, Democratic Republic of Congo, the daughter of Oscar Mafuta and Elizabeth Koko. Clementine grew up in Kwenge PLZ, where she went to a vocational school at Ecole Normale Camp Milundu to become an elementary school teacher; and she taught there from 1957 to 1959. She married Henri Ekeen Keti in 1959, and moved to Kinshasa where she taught at Kinzazi Elementary school/Matete, from 1959 to 1961. She stopped teaching to stay home as a housewife to take care her children. In 1974, she started a small business making donuts to help her family financially. In addition, she has been a catechist in the Catholic Church, teaching the word of God to children for almost 40 years and in the end became a catechist trainer. She was involved in Sacred Heart Movement, Divine Mercy Movement and Widows movement. She was also involved in the church as an usher. She was not only a lovely mom but also a very fervent believer; loving God, her family and her neighbor. On December 2018, she moved to America to live with her children, Wivine and Patrice Keti. Unfortunately, Clementine died at the age of 79 on August 2, 2019, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City from an Ischemic Stroke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henri Ekeen Keti; two brothers Patrice and Roger Mafuta, a sister Suzanne Mafuta; a daughter Marie Pauline Ngalaba Keti; grandsons Elie, Yannick, Patrice; uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. Clementine is survived by eight children, Jacques Keti of Kinshasa, Wivine Keti of Waterloo, Patrice Keti of Waterloo, Rose Keti of Kinshasa, James Keti of Kinshasa, Biba Keti of Kinshasa, Deves Keti of Kinshasa and Bob Keti of Kinshasa; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and three brothers.
The visitation will be on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 5:oo to 8:00 PM at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 10:30 AM at St. Edward Catholic Church with the burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
